Central america
In March 2003 I flew into Cancun, Mexico with a return ticket from Panama city in June. The following 3 months were spent bridging the gap between North and South America as I travelled through Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. The trip was done on public buses, small passenger ferries (taking me to the outlying islands of Belize, Honduras and Panama), horseback and on foot. The landscape was dramatic and ever-changing from tropical rainforest to cold windswept plateaus 3500m above sea level. I climbed up smoking volcanoes and ancient Mayan ruins and swam in warm coral seas and cold mountain lakes but it was the people that truly made this part of the world special. It is these people that are the protagonists of this series of photographs taken "on-the-road" exploring this rich, diverse and, above all, beautiful land called Central America.
